Put a large capacitor on the ouput of the switchers and it should be fine for the motors.

What would the use of the capacitor be?

And do I nead resistors? My motors are 5.5Ω

P.S. Would the Amps in the combination be 13A or 11A (300Wpower supply).
The -12V is considered the ground right?

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I have to start somewhere :-)
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, the motors aren't 24 volts more alnog the line of 5V, I would put a 10000uf 35V electrolytic capacitor. The L297-8 is a current limiting drive, just set the max current to the 800ma of the motor.

No the -12 is -12.

PMinMO, I want to drive 3 24volt motors... Can I use one of these new power supplies that has multi +12v rails and attach 2 of those rails to get a combined 24v output? is this a dumb question?

Thanks for the aweseom board!

Hi Coog, I doubt it, but can't say for sure. One way to get a hint as to wether you can or not, measure from gnd output on one ouput to gnd on another. If it is a solid 0V, then probably not. If you get a wandering voltage than maybe.

Hey!

I "made" a power supply for my boards and motors using an ATX PC power supply. It works, but sometimes when I turn all boards' enable on, the PS turns off. Now I was looking the link posted before and I saw there's a 10 ohms@10 W resistor in GND and +5V. I didn't put nothing, maybe this is the problem?

Thanks again!

5v needs to have a load on it for pc power supplies.
