Steve Thomas's Machine using the 1X72805a boards
steve's email:
Hi Philip..I was wondering if you have any 3977 pcb's left?
I bought a few off you a while back (and some 3977's)..they are great. I already used 3 in my
homemade cnc engraver. They work really well. It would be useful to have some spare boards to
use in future cnc projects.
Your 3977 boards are in that case you see with the 3 red knobs used to switch between different microsteps. Also there are front mounted enable/disable toggle switches so I can safely disconnect the motors without powering down the whole thing. I engraved the front panel for this box on my other cnc machine.
There is also a spindle speed control in the same box which will power the dc motor I will use on the engraving spindle.
I use standard leadscrews on the axes of the machine..though they may have backlash compared to ballscrews..I find the backlash compensation in turbocnc works well and certainly allows me to do detailed engraving as small as 1.5mm high.
cheers
